Future Innovators: An Engineering & CAD FREE Course

Future Innovators: An Engineering and CAD Course is a free, one-week program offered in partnership by Ohio University, Project RISE, and the Athens–Meigs Educational Service Center. This course is designed to empower students with tomorrow’s skills today by introducing them to engineering and design concepts in a supportive and engaging environment.

During the course, students will:

  • Learn CAD software
  • Build a strong foundation in engineering, architecture, and technical skills
  • Develop essential problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Participate in project-based learning that encourages creativity and attention to detail

The program is open to students in grades 6–12 and is designed to be supportive, self-directed, and online, with a rolling enrollment and ongoing start, making it accessible to a wide range of learners.

This opportunity is especially beneficial for students exploring career pathways who enjoy hands-on learning or are interested in engineering, architecture, or technical fields. It also helps strengthen skills such as attention to detail, career awareness, and independent learning.
